Join the Science of
Longevity
We are seeking research educators, registered dietitians, nutrition coaches, and bilingual health professionals to join two federally funded gut-brain nutrition studies launching in South Florida.
Apply to Join the TeamPioneering Gut-Brain Research for Underserved Communities
The Global Longevity Association (GLA) is a Miami Beach-based 501(c)3 nonprofit led by Ella Davar, RD, CDN — Registered Dietitian, HHS Women's Health Ambassador, and TEDx speaker. GLA is currently pursuing two parallel NIH SBIR Phase I grant applications through the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD).
Both studies deliver GLA's proprietary Gut-Brain Method™ (GBM) — an 8-week evidence-based nutrition curriculum grounded in the gut-brain axis mechanism — to underserved elder populations in South Florida, with all education and food provided at no cost to participants.
This is landmark research: among the first NIH-funded gut-brain nutrition interventions designed specifically for underserved minority elder populations, measuring real-world health outcomes tied to brain health, inflammation, and longevity.
Two Communities. One Mission.
Each cohort targets a distinct, underrepresented population with culturally adapted programming and language-matched delivery.
The Longevidad Study
Targeting low-income elder Cuban-American and Puerto Rican adults aged 60+, the Longevidad Study brings bilingual, culturally adapted gut-brain nutrition education to the heart of North Beach — a neighborhood shaped by decades of Latino heritage and community resilience.
- ~30 participants across two cohorts of 15
- 8 weekly sessions · fully bilingual (English/Spanish)
- GBM curriculum + culturally adapted Latin foods
- Non-clinical biomarker collection (waist circumference, dietary recall, cognitive assessments)
- Education and food provided at no cost to participants
- Aligned with Miami Beach Blue Zones Ignite initiative
The Women Longevity Study
Targeting foreign-born, Russian-speaking elder women aged 55+, this study addresses one of the most underrepresented populations in brain health and longevity research. Delivered in Russian at a trusted community hub in Sunny Isles Beach, it centers the health needs of immigrant women with extraordinary depth of focus.
- ~30 participants across two cohorts of 15
- 8 weekly sessions · fully delivered in Russian
- GBM curriculum + Eastern European food adaptations
- Clinical biomarkers: waist circumference + blood pressure
- Education and food provided at no cost to participants
- Primary focus: women's brain health and healthy aging
The Gut-Brain Method™
GBM translates cutting-edge microbiome science into a structured, deliverable community nutrition program. The mechanism is evidence-based and measurable:
